Gerianne Merrigan is a Professor in the Communication Studies Department at SFSU, where she teaches courses in organizational communication & training and quantitative research methodologies.

Geri served as Department Chair for Communication Studies from 2002-2011. She co-wrote Communication Research Methods (w/C. Huston, 2009, Oxford University Press), to introduce upper-division and graduate students to quantitative, interpretive and critical research methods as different ways of making arguments (i.e., claims that are supported with evidence & reasoning).

Geri holds a PhD in Speech Communication (University of Washington, 1992), Master of Science in Communication & Public Address (University of North Texas, 1988), Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Bachelor of Arts in Radio-TV-Film (Northwest Missouri State University, 1981).
