Darlene Yee-Melichar is Professor of Gerontology and Coordinator of Long-Term Care Administration in the College of Health and Social Sciences at SF State. She served as one of the inaugural Interim Directors of the EdD Program in Educational Leadership, and serves as a faculty leader on both the campus and statewide academic senate executive committees.

Dr. Yee-Melichar is a Charter Fellow of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education; Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America; Fellow of AAHPERD's Research Consortium; and a Full Member of Sigma Xi, the national research society.

She has received many awards for her teaching excellence and service contributions to the campus, community and profession. Dr. Yee-Melichar has been active in work with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality; NIH Advisory Committee for Research on Women's Health and Research Enhancement Awards Program; DHHS Minority Women's Health Panel of Experts; etc.

Her research interests in educational leadership, healthy aging, long-term care administration, and minority women's health are reflected in 4 books, 107 journal articles, book chapters, book reviews, technical reports; and numerous professional and scholarly presentations.

Dr. Yee-Melichar was appointed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Advisory Panel on Outreach and Education (APOE), beginning in the Fall 2011 and re-appointed in the Fall 2013.  She has also been appointed as Chair of the Program Committee for the 2015 Annual Scientific Conference for the Gerontological Society of America.
